The weak targets that were suggested for the national energy guarantee will put pressure on the 27 gigawatts of renewable energy projects that are proposed for Australia. The said projects would produce an equal to 17 Hazelwood power stations with half of Australia’s power requirement provided by renewables as reported by The Guardian.
Since the government’s 2020 renewable energy target has already exceeded by the present projects currently under construction, many of the planned renewable projects will not get the grants they need – this is according to the latest renewable energy index produced by Green Energy markets and funded by GetUp.
