The Mawson Antarctic Research Station is now relying on old diesel power after their wind turbine collapsed as reported by ABC News.
The Australian researchers discovered the head of the turbine had fallen to the ground at about 9:00 pm last Tuesday.
Dr. Rob Wooding, the general manager of the Australian Antarctic Division, said that, thankfully, no one got hurt. He said that the cause of the mishap was not clear, since weather conditions were moderate over the last few days.
