High electricity prices have driven an uptake on rooftop solar with orders and installations at their 2nd highest levels as reported by news.com.au.
Green Energy Market’s Renewable Energy Index showed more than 100 megawatts of rooftop solar was installed across Australia.
This is the second time that installations exceeded more than 100 megawatts in a month. The first time was in June 2012 when solar subsidies were available.
Dr. Ron Ben-David, Chairman of the Essential Services Commission said that the combined impact of the higher electricity prices, bill shock and not meeting the discount conditions resulted in many customers struggling. The report also found that penalty increases are forcing many customers into hardship programs.
