Australia exceeded 1 gigawatts of rooftop solar panels for the first time last year, with the market set to expand further this year as reported by The Global Trade Review.
Australia added about 1.078 gigawatts of new rooftop solar capacity last year which beat the last record set in 2012 by 14%. The government-owned Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) has surpassed the 1GW of solar investments funded Last December. The 80MWOakey park solar farm in Queensland on the other has secured $55 million in CEFC debt for the second stage of its development, with an initial loan of $19.5 million.
The said investment will also be used to fund forecasting technology that helps deliver solar energy more efficiently to the grid. This will also be the first time that forecasting technology has been funded by the CEFC and will surely be a cornerstone of their investments in the future.
