A new technology developed in Western Australia is making its mark on the solar energy market by making the world’s first solar commercially viable solar glass.
The solar glass is developed at the Electron Science Research Institute or ESRI at Edith Cowan University. The solar glass contains special nanoparticles, with solar cells around its borders. ESRI Director Kamal Aslameh described the new technology as a game changer for the industry.
The glass has been used in building a self-sufficient bus shelter in Melbourne. The company is also in talks to test the product at Singapore Changi Airport.
