The Australian large-scale solar industry may be at risk of quality issues as reported by PV Magazine.
Large-scale quality may suffer from incorrect handling and installation as well as botched electrical wiring. The main concern is inexperienced installers and construction teams rushing to meet deadlines and getting the installation wrong.
Microcracks caused by mishandling, incorrect stacking of panels, dropping or even walking on modules are not uncommon when inexperienced contractors and installations teams are used. The module back sheets can also be ripped, scraped or torn.
PI Berlin is usually called in to inspect underperforming PV power plants. The firm uses infrared cameras as their diagnostics tool in identifying hotspots caused by cracked cells and faulty wiring.
