Lego has invested $1.2 billion over the last 4 years in balancing 100% of its energy use through renewable sources and now, their goal has been achieved 3 years earlier.
And to celebrate this achievement, Lego has set a Guinness World Record by building a seven and a half meter tall wind turbine out of 146,000 Lego bricks.
According to the company, since 2012, the Lego Group has supported the development of more than 160 megawatts of renewable energy. The company’s $1.2 billion renewable investments have been in two different offshore wind farms.
The next project will be a 25% stake in the Burbo Bank Extension wind farm off the coast of Liverpool in eth United Kingdom. This wind farm will generate clean power for more than 230,000 British homes.
The total output Lego investment in renewables now exceeds the energy used at all Lego factories, stores, and offices worldwide. In 2016, more than 360-gigawatt hours of energy were used by Lego in producing more than 75 million Lego bricks sold worldwide during the year.
