Survey Shows Strong Preference for Solar Batteries and Solar Panels

A recent survey in Australia showed 34% of respondents were considering installing solar panels and 27% are thinking of battery storage as reported by Energy Matters.

While the use of solar power in Australia has been strong for years, the opportunities for renewable energy use around the country are being under-utilised. This valuable rooftop real estate could be put to good use in generating power and electricity. The good thing is, there are plenty of households interested in doing so within 5 years.

The survey was carried out for Energy Consumers Australia and KPMG and it was first reported in the Sydney Morning Herald.

41% of respondents are considering purchasing batteries to be less dependent on the grid. Other factors for adopting renewable energy solutions included reducing household electricity bills, taking full advantage of solar-generated electricity and issues that relate to the level of solar feed-in tariffs.

Some of the major factors in solar panel installation included reducing household energy bills (60% of respondents) and reducing dependence on mains-supplied electricity (32% of respondents).

The country is expected to be a major player in the worldwide battery storage market, with market penetration prediction to bypass 5% of installed power capacity in the year 2025.
