Tesla has completed construction of its giant lithium-ion battery in South Australia as reported by ABC News.
The project was dubbed the biggest and most powerful lithium-ion battery plant and expected to be tested in the coming days ahead of the December 1 deadline.
The Tesla Powerpack battery array has been installed alongside the French company Neoen’s Hornsdale windfarm near Jamestown in South Australia’s mid-north region. Also according to the report, South Australian taxpayers will spend up to $50 million subsidizing the 100-megawatt battery while the SA government will have access to some of the battery’s output in providing stability services to the grid.
An enormous amount of work has gone in to delivering this project in such a short time, and I look forward to visiting Jamestown next week to personally thank those who have worked on this project.
