Tony Abbott Still a Climate Change Sceptic

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that former Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that voters should beware the science of climate change and stated that higher temperatures may be more beneficial since more people die in cold snaps than in hot weather.

He made these comments in a speech in London to the Global Warming Policy Foundation, which was founded by climate sceptics.

According to NASA:

  • 97% of climate scientist agree that warming trends of the past century are likely due to human activity
  • Most leading scientific organisations have endorsed this position in many public statements

According to Abbott, the extreme weather Australia is experiencing now is no more damaging than they were in the 1800s.

Abbott, conservatives and other sceptics continue not taking warning signs seriously.
