Tracking Technology Is Essential In Solar PV Plants

Many Australian solar power plants are increasingly taking advantage of tracking technology to maximise every watt of energy from the sun as reported by Ecogeneration.

It’s also common knowledge that Australia has some of the highest electricity prices in the world and many residents have experienced blackouts due to inadequate supply, thus many homeowners are switching to renewable energy.

Solar power plays an important role in the country’s clean energy transition and a recent report stated that Australia’s solar capacity is right on track for 12 gigawatts of installed capacity by the year 2020. And according to the Clean Energy Council, 175 of power was generated by clean energy in 2016.

For solar power farms, having the right tracking technology is essential to maximise energy output. Having tracking systems installed can give big benefits that include:

  • Economic advantages
  • It allows PV modules to follow the sun’s daily path, resulting in increased energy production and profits
  • It can increase energy output by 20%
  • Trackers enable more efficient use of system components.
