Zen Energy Continues Solar Plans for SA Steelworks Industry

Zen Energy is planning to add 1 gigawatts of renewable power for the South Australian Steelworks industry as reported by Energy Manager Today.

The plan includes a number of solar and battery projects which is aimed at bringing down power costs for steelworks.

Planned projects include:

  • 200 megawatts of solar PV: 80 megawatts in the Whyalla Council industrial area, 120 megawatts on land owned by Liberty OneSteel.
  • A 100-megawatt / 100 megawatt-hour battery at Port Augusta.
  • 100 megawatts of demand response at the Whyalla Steelworks and other South Australia sites.
  • 120 megawatts / 600 megawatt-hours pumped hydro storage facility at a disused iron ore mine pit in the Middleback Ranges.
